MEET THE WCS TEAM...

bill slocombe

Bill Slocombe, Managing Director

Bill has more than 40 years experience in the inspection, test and quality assurance fields in a wide range of industries in the UK and overseas. He was a tutor on one of the first registered QMS Lead Auditor courses in the UK and has been a registered IRCA Lead Auditor since the scheme commenced. Prior to helping to establish World Certification Services in 1994, Bill was employed by British Telecom Corporate Headquarters as Senior Quality Consultant.As WCS Managing Director, Bill is fully committed to ensuring the company provides a competitive and cost effective certification service, and to ensuring that there is total impartiality in WCS's certification activities. Management system controls ensure that objectivity is maintained throughout, and that potential conflicts of interest are identified, managed and controlled.

les atwell

Les Atwell, Certification Manager & Lead Auditor

Although Les trained as an Electrical/Electronic Engineer he spent many years as an inspector involved in the direct inspection and test of products at manufacturer's works. Products ranged in complexity from cable, tools and safety wear, to electronic components, switching equipment and digital telephone exchanges. This led to him to managing and developing teams involved in quality assurance activities at manufacturer's works, and also to the testing and verification/validation of electronic test equipment and associated operational software. Les has wide QMS consultancy experience and has extensive experience of electrical calibration, dimensional metrology and the life-testing of products. Les was involved for a number of years in the design and development of vendor rating systems and joined WCS in 1996. As part of the certification process Les is approved to make the final certification decision.

Grant Slocombe, Director and Lead Auditor

After graduating from Liverpool University with a BA Honours Degree in Construction Management, and completing a final year dissertation in Quality Management Systems, Grant spent time gaining field experience before joining World Certification in July 1997. He has successfully progressed through the company from Certification Officer, Deputy Certification Manager and Lead Auditor, to his present position of Operations Director which he took up in October 2010. Having gained wide auditing experience in a range of industries in the UK and USA, Grant fully understands the need for WCS to be able to provide meaningful and value-added audits for WCS's customers.

lindsey slocombe

Lindsey Allmark, Office Manager / Accounts

Lindsey has been with World Certification since July 2000 and has gained a wealth of experience in operations and management within the certification sector. Lindsey is responsible for the day to day management of the office, scheduling of client audits, processing of contracts, invoicing, and human resource matters.

Harry Slocombe, Certification Officer

Harry has been with World Certification since July 2004 and he has brought valuable operational experience into the company. Harry is a qualified Lead Auditor with a wealth of experience in the Engineering and Telecommunication sectors. He is responsible for checking completed audit reports, raising certificates of registration, and maintaining the WCS Register of Certificates. Harry also has responsibility for day to day communication with overseas business managers and for resolving any certification queries.

janet thomas

Janet Thomas, Administration Officer

Janet joined World Certification in April 2007. Her roles include processing audit reports, dealing with corrective actions and general office duties. Since joining in April 2007 Janet has gained experience of the assessment and certification processes and has an excellent understanding of the certification industry.

Valerie Naylor

Valerie Naylor, Administration Officer

Valerie joined World Certification in September 2008. Her roles include processing audit reports, dealing with corrective actions and general office duties.

Karen Birmingham

Karen Birmingham, Administration Officer

Karen joined World Certification in early 2010. Her roles include processing audit reports, dealing with corrective actions and general office duties. Karen has also been involved in auditor competency system that WCS has recently implemented.
